🧍 As of 2021-06-05 this emendation was not yet included in an IJSEM List of Changes in Taxonomic Opinion. — 🧍 Gorlenko et al. (2015) actually proposed the genus name again. To highlight this incident (which is not in accordance with the ICNP), it is here treated as an emendation.

🧍 Imhoff et al. propose the new genera Allochromatium, Halochromatium, Isochromatium, Marichromatium, Thiococcus, Thiohalocapsa and Thermochromatium. The names Allochromatium (Gr. adj. allos, other) and Halochromatium (Gr. n. hals, salt) are from different sources but they can be homophones. Indeed, the "H" is not pronouced in some languages such in French, Spanish, Portuguese or Italian. Moreover, in Latin, the aspirated "H" has not always been used (see: Quintilian, Institutio Oratoria, Liber primus, 5: XIX, XX, and XXI). It has been employed at the beginning of the Latin civilization but lost as early as the end of the Republic (-27) even if some educated people have retained the aspirate till Aurelius Augustinus (354 - 430). Therefore, in the spoken language the names Allochromatium and Halochromatium can be a cause of uncertainty. The proposal of the name "Dissimilichromatium" (L. adj. dissimilis, different) for Allochromatium or the proposal of the name "Salichromatium" (L. n. sal, salt) for Halochromatium would allow to avoid confusion.Publication:
