Schleiferia Albuquerque et al. 2011, gen. nov. (Type genus of the family ¤ Schleiferiaceae Albuquerque et al. 2011).
Type species: ¤ Schleiferia thermophila Albuquerque et al. 2011.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Schleiferia, named in honour of the German microbiologist Karl-Heinz Schleifer.
Valid publication: ALBUQUERQUE (L.), RAINEY (F.A.), NOBRE (M.F.) and DA COSTA (M.S.): Schleiferia thermophila gen. nov., sp. nov., a slightly thermophilic bacterium of the phylum ‘Bacteroidetes’ and the proposal of Schleiferiaceae fam. nov. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2011, 61, 2450-2455.

Schleiferia thermophila Albuquerque et al. 2011, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)

Etymology: Gr. adj. thermos, hot; N.L. fem. adj. phila (from Gr. fem. adj. philê), friend, loving; N.L. fem. adj. thermophila, heat-loving.
