Type genus: ¤ Sanguibacter Fernández-Garayzábal et al. 1995.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Sanguibacter, type genus of the family; L. suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Sanguibacteraceae, the Sanguibacter family.
