Type genus: ¤ Rarobacter Yamamoto et al. 1988.
Etymology: N.L. masc. n. Rarobacter, type genus of the family; L. suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Rarobacteraceae, the Rarobacter family.
