Etymology: Gr. adj. pseudes, false; N.L. masc. n. Pelagicola, a bacterial generic name; N.L. masc. n. Pseudopelagicola, the false Pelagicola.

Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA) for the type strain: KF977839.
Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. gijangensis, pertaining to Gijang, the location of the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute, where the type strain was characterized.
