Etymology: Gr. adj. pseudês, false; NL. masc. n. Kineococcus, a bacterial genus name; N.L. masc. n. Pseudokineococcus, the false Kineococcus.

Pseudokineococcus lusitanus Jurado et al. 2011, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type species: strain T2A-S27 = CECT 7306 = DSM 23768 = LMG 24148.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: FN824365.
Etymology: L. masc. adj. lusitanus, belonging to Lusitania the Latin name for Portugal, where the organism was isolated.

Type species: strain KST3-3 = KCCM 42250 = JCM 14547 = NBRC 102111 = NRRL B-24439.

Basonym: ¤ Kineococcus marinus Lee 2006.
Etymology: L. masc. adj. marinus, of the sea, the origin of the sample from which the type strain was isolated.
