Etymology: L. adj. prolixus, long, extended; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Prolixibacter, a long rod.

Etymology: L. pl. n. bellaria, sweets, dessert; L. part. adj. vorans, devouring; N.L. part. adj. bellariivorans, sweet-devouring, consuming sweet things.
