Type species: ¤ Phycicola gilvus Lee et al. 2008.
Etymology: L. n. phycos, seaweed; L. masc. or fem. suffix -cola (from L. n. incola), inhabitant; N.L. masc. n. Phycicola, inhabitant of seaweed.
Valid publication: LEE (D.W.), LEE (J.M.), SEO (J.P.), SCHUMANN (P.), KIM (S.J.) and LEE (S.D.): Phycicola gilvus gen. nov., sp. nov., an actinobacterium isolated from living seaweed. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2008, 58, 1318-1323.

Etymology: L. masc. adj. gilvus, pale yellow-coloured.
