Etymology: Gr. adj. neos, new; N.L. fem. n. Asaia, a bacterial genus name; N.L. fem. n. Neoasaia, a new Asaia.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. chiangmaiensis, pertaining to Chiang Mai, Thailand, where the type strain was isolated.
