Etymology: N.L. neut. n. methanum, methane; N.L. pref. methano,-pertaining to methane; N.L. n. natron, arbitrarily derived from the Ar. n. natrun, natron, soda; N.L. neut. n. archaeum (from Gr. adj. archaios, -e -on), ancient archaeon; N.L. neut. n. Methanonatronarchaeum, a soda-loving archaeon-forming methane.
