Type species: ¤ Humihabitans oryzae Kageyama et al. 2007.
Etymology: L. masc. n. humus, soil; L. masc. n. habitans, an inhabitant; N.L. masc. n. Humihabitans, an inhabitant of soil.

Note: Yang et al. 2012 propose to transfer ¤ Humihabitans oryzae Kageyama et al. 2007 (the type species of the genus Humihabitans) to the genus ¤ Intrasporangium as ¤ Intrasporangium oryzae (Kageyama et al. 2007) Yang et al. 2012, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Humihabitans to ¤ Intrasporangium.

Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) KV-657 = JCM 15924 = NBRC 101802 = NRRL B-24470.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AB282887.
Etymology: L. gen. n. oryzae, of rice, pertaining to the isolation of the type strain from rice paddy soil.
