Etymology: N.L. n. acidum glutamicum, glutamic acid; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Glutamicibacter, glutamic acid rod, referring to the presence of glutamic acid in the peptidoglycan interpeptide bridge.
