Type species: ¤ Fretibacterium fastidiosum Vartoukian et al. 2013.
Etymology: L. adj. fretus, depending, depending on; L. neut. n. bacterium, a rod; N.L. neut. n. Fretibacterium, depending rod, referring to the dependence of this organism on co-culture for good growth.
