Type species: ¤ Fluviicola taffensis O'Sullivan et al. 2005.
Etymology: L. n. fluvius, river; L. suff. -cola (from L. masc. or fem. n. incola), inhabitant, dweller; N.L. masc. n. Fluviicola, river dweller.
Valid publication: O'SULLIVAN (L.A.), RINNA (J.), HUMPHREYS (G.), WEIGHTMAN (A.J.) and FRY (J.C.): Fluviicola taffensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel freshwater bacterium of the family Cryomorphaceae in the phylum 'Bacteroidetes'. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2005, 55, 2189-2194.
