Type species: ¤ Fervidicella metallireducens Ogg and Patel 2010.
Etymology: L. adj. fervidus, glowing, hot, burning; L. fem. n. cella, a storeroom, chamber, and, in biology, a cell; N.L. fem. n. Fervidicella, a glowing cell, a thermophile.
Valid publication: OGG (C.D.) and PATEL (B.K.C.): Fervidicella metallireducens gen. nov., sp. nov., a thermophilic, anaerobic bacterium from geothermal waters. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2010, 60, 1394-1400.

Fervidicella metallireducens Ogg and Patel 2010, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)

Etymology: L. n. metallum, metal; L. part. adj. reducens, leading back, bringing back, and, in chemistry, converting to a different oxidation state; N.L. part. adj. metallireducens, reducing metal.
