🙄 This taxon name is occasionally misprinted (or affected by an OCR error) in some sources as: "Foenia"; "Fuenia".
❗ Faenia is the correct name instead if this genus is regarded as a separate genus (i.e., if its nomenclatural type is not assigned to another genus whose name is validly published, legitimate and not rejected and has priority).

🧍 According to Kurup and Agre, the genus name Faenia is a Latin feminine plural name. However, according to Rule 10a, the name of a genus must be a substantive, or an adjective used as a substantive, in the singular number. Consequently, Faenia Kurup and Agre 1983 could be regarded as not in accordance with the rules of the ICNP. Moreover, the Latin noun faenum is in the neuter gender and the plural nominative should be faena (without i).Publication:

🧍 Pittman et al. (1991) suggested the abbreviation "FAEN" for this genus name but this does not appear to be of practical relevance any longer.Publication:
