Type species: ¤ Faecalimonas umbilicata Sakamoto et al. 2017.
Etymology: N.L. adj. faecalis (from L. n. faex, faeces), pertaining to faeces; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Faecalimonas, a monad isolated from faeces.
