Enterovibrio Thompson et al. 2002, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Enterovibrio norvegicus Thompson et al. 2002.
Etymology: Gr. n. enteron, intestine; L. v. vibro, to set in tremulous motion, move to and fro, vibrate; N.L. n. vibrio, that which vibrates, and also a bacterial genus name of bacteria possessing a curved rod shape (Vibrio); N.L. masc. n. Enterovibrio, enteric vibrio.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. calviensis, of or pertaining to the Bay of Calvi, Corsica, from where the type strain was isolated.
