Type species: ¤ Catellicoccus marimammalium Lawson et al. 2006.
Etymology: L. fem. n. catella, small chain; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos), berry; N.L. masc. n. Catellicoccus, coccus forming small chains.
Valid publication: LAWSON (P.A.), COLLINS (M.D.), FALSEN (E.) and FOSTER (G.): Catellicoccus marimammalium gen. nov., sp. nov., a novel Gram-positive, catalase-negative, coccus-shaped bacterium from porpoise and grey seal. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2006, 56, 429-432.

Etymology: L. neut. n. mare, the sea; N.L. neut. gen. pl. n. mammalium, of mammals; N.L. gen. pl. n. marimammalium, of marine mammals.
