Type species: ¤ Arenicella xantha Romanenko et al. 2010.
Etymology: L. n. arena, sand; L. fem. n. cella, a chamber, and in biology a cell; N.L. fem. n. Arenicella, a cell from sand.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. xantha (from Gr. fem. adj. xanthê), yellow-coloured.
