Etymology: Gr. adj. zôos, alive, living; Gr. fem. n. gloia, glue; N.L. fem. n. Zoogloea, living glue.

Zoogloea caeni Shao et al. 2009, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) strain EMB43 = DSM 19389 = KCTC 22084.

Etymology: L. gen. n. caeni, of mud, referring to the isolation of the type strain from activated sludge.

Zoogloea oryzae Xie and Yokota 2006, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) strain A-7 = CCTCC AB 2052005 = IAM 15218 = JCM 21672 = NBRC 102407.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AB201043.
Etymology: L. gen. n. oryzae, of rice, from the rice paddy fields from which the strains were isolated.
