Etymology: N.L. neut. n. zeaxanthinum, zeaxanthin; N.L. masc. n. bacter, rod; N.L. masc. n. Zeaxanthinibacter, zeaxanthin-producing rod-like bacterium.

Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) TD-ZE3 = CCUG 53613 = CIP 109560 = NBRC 101990.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AB264057.
Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. enoshimensis, pertaining to Enoshima Island in Japan, where the type strain was isolated.
