Type species: ¤ Wenxinia marina Ying et al. 2007.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Wenxinia, named after Professor Wen-Xin Chen, one of the academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a pioneer of soil microbiology in China.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. marina, of or belonging to the sea.

Wenxinia saemankumensis Park et al. 2014, sp. nov.
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) S-22=KCTC 32548=CECT 8456.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA) for the type strain: KF748921.
Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. saemankumensis, from Saemankum, the location on the Yellow Sea in Korea where the type strain was isolated.
