Type genus: ¤ Veillonella Prévot 1933 (Approved Lists 1980).
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Veillonella, type genus of the family; L. suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Veillonellaceae, the Veillonella family.
