Type species: ¤ Tonsilliphilus suis Azuma et al. 2013.
Etymology: L. pl. n. tonsillae the tonsils in the throat; N.L. masc. n. philus (from Gr. masc. n. philos) a friend; N.L. masc. n. Tonsilliphilus a friend of tonsils.
