Thermovibrio Huber et al. 2002, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Thermovibrio ruber Huber et al. 2002.
Etymology: Gr. n. thermê, heat; L. v. vibro, to set in tremulous motion, move to and fro, vibrate; N.L. masc. n. vibrio, that which vibrates, and also a bacterial genus name of bacteria possessing a curved rod shape (Vibrio); N.L. masc. n. thermovibrio, a thermophilic curved rod.

Etymology: N.L. neut. n. ammonium, ammonium; L. ending -ficans (from L. v. facio facere, to make); N.L. masc. part. adj. ammonificans, ammonifying.

Etymology: L. masc. adj. ruber, red, describing the colour of the cells.
