Etymology: Gr. adj. thermos, hot; L. adj. longus, long; L. dim. n. bacillus small rod; N.L. masc. n. Thermolongibacillus, long thermophilic rod.

Etymology: N.L. masc. adj. altinsuensis, pertaining to the isolation habitat, Altinsu hot spring located in Kozakli province of Nevsehir in the Middle Anatolian Region of Turkey (Cappadocia area).
