Type species: ¤ Thermanaeromonas toyohensis Mori et al. 2002.
Etymology: Gr. adj. thermos, hot; Gr. pref. an, not; Gr. n. aer aeros, air; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Thermanaeromonas, a thermophilic, anaerobic monad.

Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) IA106=DSM 26576=JCM 18718.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA) for the type strain: JQ446369.
Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. burensis, belonging to Bure, the area where the strain was isolated.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. toyohensis, pertaining to Toyoha, referring to its isolation from the Toyoha Mines.
