Tatlockia Garrity et al. 1980, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Tatlockia micdadei Garrity et al. 1980.
Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Tatlockia, named after Hugh Tatlock, the individual who originally isolated this organism.
Valid publication: GARRITY (G.M.), BROWN (A.) and VICKERS (R.M.): Tatlockia and Fluoribacter: two new genera of organisms resembling Legionella pneumophila. Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol., 1980, 30, 609-614.

Note: The name Tatlockia Garrity et al. 1980 is a correct name (Principle 6). However, the names Tatlockia Garrity et al. 1980, ¤ Tatlockia micdadei Garrity et al. 1980 (the type species of the genus), and ¤ Tatlockia maceachernii (Brenner et al. 1985) Fox et al. 1991 have never found widespread usage.

Note: The name Tatlockia maceachernii (Brenner et al. 1985) Fox et al. 1991 is a correct name (Principle 6). According to his/her scientific opinion, a bacteriologist may use the names Tatlockia maceachernii (Brenner et al. 1985) Fox et al. 1991 or ¤ Legionella maceachernii Brenner et al. 1985. However, the names ¤ Tatlockia Garrity et al. 1980, and Tatlockia maceachernii (Brenner et al. 1985) Fox et al. 1991 have never found widespread usage.

= ¤ Legionella micdadei Hébert et al. 1980.

Note: Tatlockia micdadei Garrity et al. 1980 is an earlier homotypic synonym of ¤ Legionella micdadei Hébert et al. 1980. According to his/her scientific opinion, a bacteriologist may use the names Tatlockia micdadei or ¤ Legionella micdadei. However, the names ¤ Tatlockia Garrity et al. 1980 and Tatlockia micdadei Garrity et al. 1980 have never found widespread usage.
