Type species: ¤ Sulfuricurvum kujiense Kodama and Watanabe 2004.
Etymology: L. neut. n. sulfur -uris, sulfur; L. adj. curvus -a -um, curved; N.L. neut. n. Sulfuricurvum, curved bacterium that utilizes sulfur.
Valid publication: KODAMA (Y.) and WATANABE (K.): Sulfuricurvum kujiense gen. nov., sp. nov., a facultatively anaerobic, chemolithoautotrophic, sulfur-oxidizing bacterium isolated from an underground crude-oil storage cavity. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2004, 54, 2297-2300.

Sulfuricurvum kujiense Kodama and Watanabe 2004, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) YK-1 = ATCC BAA-921 = DSM 16994 = JCM 11577 = MBIC 06352.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: CP002355 (complete genome).
Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. kujiense, referring to Kuji, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, where the bacterium was isolated.
