Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Stakelama, arbitrary name derived from State Key Laboratory of Marine Environment Science.

Etymology: L. fem. adj. pacifica, peaceful, referring to the Pacific Ocean, the origin of the type strain.

Etymology: L. gen. n. sediminis, of sediment, referring to the source of isolation of the type strain.
