Etymology: L. n. silanus, a fountain; L. fem. n. monas, a unit, monad; N.L. fem. n. Silanimonas, a monad isolated from a fountain.

Etymology: N.L. gen. n. mangrovi, of/from a mangrove, referring to the isolation of the type strain from a mangrove forest.
