Type genus: ¤ Sandaracinus Mohr et al. 2012.
Etymology: N.L. n. Sandaracinus, type genus of the family; L. suff. -aceae, ending to denote a family; N.L. fem. pl. n. Sandaracinaceae, the Sandaracinus family.
Valid publication: MOHR (K.I.), GARCIA (R.O.), GERTH (K.), IRSCHIK (H.) and MÜLLER (R.): Sandaracinus amylolyticus gen. nov., sp. nov., a starch-degrading soil myxobacterium, and description of Sandaracinaceae fam. nov. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2012, 62, 1191-1198.
