Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AY949857.
Etymology: L. n. acetum, vinegar; N.L. suff. -genes (from Gr. v. gennaô, to produce), producing; N.L. adj. acetigenes, vinegar- or acetic acid-producing.
