Type species: ¤ Rhodovastum atsumiense Okamura et al. 2018.
Etymology: Gr. n. rhodon, the rose; L. neut. adj. vastum, empty, vast; N.L. neut. n. Rhodovastum, the vast rose, referring to the cell color and size.

Etymology: N.L. neut. adj. atsumiense, pertaining to Atsumi Peninsula, Japan, where the type strain of this organism was isolated.
