Etymology:
Rei.chen.bach’i.a. N.L. fem. n.Reichenbachia, after Hans Reichenbach, a German microbiologist, who has made a great contribution to the taxonomy of bacteria belonging to the phylum CFB

🚂 For the type species of this genus another name is in use, which is affiliated with the genus Reichenbachiella Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005.Publication:

😢 The terminology used by the authors is in line with many other taxonomic studies and does not negatively affect their main results; some improvements may nevertheless be possible. Contrasting the term "chemotaxonomic" with "phenotypic" is not recommended. Using the term "phylogenetic data" (or equivalent) for sequence data is not advocated. Whether taxa can have "members" is debatable. See the LPSN phylogeny page for details.Publication:

🧍 Later homonym of the plant genus Reichenbachia Sprengel 1823 and the insect genus Reichenbachia Leach 1826.Publication:

Int J Syst Evol Microbiol 2005; 55:2583-2588.
🧍 The names Reichenbachia is illegitimate because Reichenbachia Nedashkovskaya et al. 2003 is a later homonym of Reichenbachia Sprengel 1823 (a plant belonging to the family Nyctaginaceae) and a later homonym of Reichenbachia Leach 1826 (an insect belonging to the family Staphylinidae). Consequently, a new genus designation Reichenbachiella has been proposed by Nedashkovskaya et al. 2005.Publication:
