Etymology: L. adj. rarus, rare; N.L. neut. n. microbium, microbe; N.L. neut. n. Rarimicrobium, microbe rarely encountered.

Etymology: L. gen. n. hominis, of a man, of a human being, named because the type and only species is of human origin.
