Etymology: N.L. fem. n. Raineyella, the name is dedicated to the British microbiologist Frederick Andrew Rainey, President of Bergey's International Society for Microbial Systematics (2012–2014), a member of the Bergey’s Manual Trust, and who has significantly contributed to bacterial phylogeny and taxonomy..
