Type species: ¤ Quadrisphaera granulorum Maszenan et al. 2005.
Etymology: L. pref. numer. adj. quadr-, four; L. fem. n. sphaera, a ball, globe, sphere; N.L. fem. n. quadrisphaera, fourfold balls, coccus in tetrad.
Valid publication: MASZENAN (A.M.), TAY (J.H.), SCHUMANN (P.), JIANG (H.L.) and TAY (S.T.L.): Quadrisphaera granulorum gen. nov., sp. nov., a Gram-positive polyphosphate-accumulating coccus in tetrads or aggregates isolated from aerobic granules. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2005, 55, 1771-1777.
