Type species: ¤ Pyramidobacter piscolens Downes et al. 2009.
Etymology: Gr. n. puramis -idos, pyramid; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Pyramidobacter, a rod that forms pyramid-like colonies.
Valid publication: DOWNES (J.), VARTOUKIAN (S.R.), DEWHIRST (F.E.), IZARD (J.), CHEN (T.), YU (W.H.), SUTCLIFFE (I.C.) and WADE (W.G.): Pyramidobacter piscolens gen. nov., sp. nov., a member of the phylum 'Synergistetes' isolated from the human oral cavity.
