Etymology: Gr. adj. pseudês, false; N.L. masc. n. Teredinibacter, a bacterial generic name; N.L. masc. n. Pseudoteredinibacter, false Teredinibacter.

Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) SW-11 = sw-11 = BCRC 17935 = LMG 25246.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: FJ347760.
Etymology: N.L. n. Isopora, the scientific name of a genus of coral; N.L. gen. n. isoporae, of Isopora, referring to the isolation of the type strain from a coral belonging to the genus Isopora.
