Pseudobutyrivibrio van Gylswyk et al. 1996, gen. nov.
Type species: ¤ Pseudobutyrivibrio ruminis van Gylswyk et al. 1996.
Etymology: Gr. adj.  pseudês, false; N.L. masc. n. Butyrivibrio, a bacterial genus name; N.L. masc. n. Pseudobutyrivibrio, not a true Butyribvibrio.
Valid publication: VAN GYLSWYK (N.O.), HIPPE (H.) and RAINEY (F.A.): Pseudobutyrivibrio ruminis gen. nov., sp. nov., a butyrate-producing bacterium from the rumen that closely resembles Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens in phenotype. Int. J. Syst. Bacteriol., 1996, 46, 559-563.

Etymology: L. neut. gen. n. ruminis, of the rumen.

Etymology: N.L. n. xylanum, xylan; L. part. adj. vorans, devouring, digesting; N.L. part. adj. xylanivorans, xylan-digesting.
