Note: Taborda et al. 2010 propose to transfer Pseudidiomarina taiwanensis Jean et al. 2006 (the type species of the genus Pseudidiomarina) to the genus ¤ Idiomarina Ivanova et al. 2000 as ¤ Idiomarina taiwanensis (Jean et al. 2006) Taborda et al. 2010, comb. nov. According to Rule 37a, bacteriologists adhering to this proposal must change the name Pseudidiomarina Jean et al. 2006 to ¤ Idiomarina Ivanova et al. 2000.

Etymology: L. gen. n. aestuarii, of a tract overflowed at high tide, a salt marsh, a bay, referring to the isolation of the type strain from shallow coastal seawater.
