Type species: ¤ Porticoccus litoralis Oh et al. 2010.
Etymology: L. n. portus, a harbour, haven, port; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos, grain, seed), a coccus; N.L. masc. n. Porticoccus, a coccus isolated from a harbour.
Valid publication: OH (H.M.), KIM (H.), KIM (K.M.), MIN (G.S.) and CHO (J.C.): Porticoccus litoralis gen. nov., sp. nov., a gammaproteobacterium isolated from the Yellow Sea. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2010, 60, 727-732.
