Type species: ¤ Pimelobacter simplex (Jensen 1934) Suzuki and Komagata 1983.
Etymology: Gr. n. pimelê, soft fat, lard; N.L. masc. n. bacter, a rod; N.L. masc. n. Pimelobacter, intended to mean oil inhabiting rod.
