Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. daeguensis, of Daegu, Korea, from where the type strain was isolated.

Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) strain K24 = CCUG 47266 = DSM 13608 = NCIMB 13708.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA gene) for the type strain: AF282916.
Etymology: N.L. gen. masc. n. kullae, of Kulla, in honor of Hans G. Kulla, who initiated the work about the aerobic degradation of azo dyes by bacteria, which resulted in the isolation of strain K24.
