Etymology: L. adj. parvulus, very small; L. fem. n. arcula, a jewel-casket; N.L. fem. n. Parvularcula, a very small jewel-casket.
Valid publication: CHO (J.C.) and GIOVANNONI (S.J.): Parvularcula bermudensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a marine bacterium that forms a deep branch in the α-Proteobacteria. Int. J. Syst. Evol. Microbiol., 2003, 53, 1031-1036.

Etymology: N.L. fem. adj. dongshanensis, of or belonging to Dongshan, a city in Fujian, PR China, where the type strain was first isolated.
