Type species: ¤ Parapedobacter koreensis Kim et al. 2007.
Etymology: Gr. pref. para-, like, beside; N.L. masc. n. Pedobacter, a bacterial genus; N.L. masc. n. Parapedobacter, like Pedobacter, referring to the close relationship to the genus.
