Etymology: Gr. prep. para, beside, alongside of, near, like; N.L. fem. n. Blastomonas, a bacterial generic name; N.L. fem. n. Parablastomonas, beside Blastomonas.

Parablastomonas arctica Ren et al. 2015, sp. nov. (Type species of the genus.)
Type strain: (see also StrainInfo.net) M0-2=CCTCC AB 2012968=NRRL B-59110.
Sequence accession no. (16S rRNA) for the type strain: KC759680.
Etymology: L. fem. adj. arctica, northern, from the Arctic, referring to the site where the type strain was isolated.
