Etymology: N.L. masc. n. nitras -atis, nitrate; L. masc. n. ruptor, breaker; N.L. masc. n. Nitratiruptor, nitrate-breaker (-reducer).

Etymology: L. neut. n. tergum, back; L. gen. n. arcus, of an arc; N.L. gen. n. tergarcus, of a back arc (geological term).
